STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS
The staff of the SCCYSL forms a three tiered supervisory system. An Executive Council is comprised of a President, Treasurer, Secretary, Program Director and Chief Safety Officer. These executive volunteers are responsible for all business, educational and safety matters of the League.
The second tier of volunteers are League Instructors who have attended appropriate NRA certification courses for instructing rifle, shotgun, pistol and/or cartridge and shotshell reloading courses. Some instructors have attended the USAS/NRA Level 1 Shooting Coach schools for rifle and/or shotgun activities. All League Instructors are NRA certified Range Safety Officers. The League also has a Chief Range Safety Officers who trains parent volunteers to become NRA certified Range Safety Officers at no cost.
In addition to the Executive Council and NRA certified League Instructors and Coaches, a third level of volunteers, comprised mainly of interested parents, aids the League Instructors in the conduct of each shooting session. The ratio of students to supervisors is usually about 4 to 1 on the shooting line. Any adult in good standing is welcomed to join the League as a volunteer after passing a State of Pennsylvania criminal background check and a child abuse background check. The parent volunteers may attend an NRA Range Safety Officer course free of charge. A Parents Auxiliary group functions to raise funds for the organization.
