SHOTGUN MARKSMANSHIP PROGRAM
Trap Shooting Program
The SCCYSL has a shotgunning program that is designed to educate youngsters in the safe and responsible use of of firearms in the shotgunning sports. The program gives the youngsters the knowledge, skills and attitude to participate in trap, sporting clays, and other shotgun sports. The SCCYSL has two Promatic Harrier trap machine. These professional machines allow the League to provide a high quality shooting experience to our youngsters. The SCCYSL has seven shotguns available for use by our youngsters.
Our Trap shooting educational program uses the Winchester/NRA Shotgun Qualification requirements to have the youngsters progress from novice to experienced Expert and Distinguishes Expert shotgunners.

YOUNGSTERS WHO HAVE EARNED THE DISTINGUISHED
EXPERT RANKING IN THE SCCYSL SHOTGUNNING PROGRAM
To achieve the Distinguished Expert rating in the NRA Trap Shooting program, a youngster must hold the rank of Expert and shoot 22 or better out of 25 targets, ten times. Or, shoot an 84% or better score in two ATA or NSAA registered tournaments.

YOUNGSTERS WHO HAVE EARNED THE
EXPERT RANKING IN THE SCCYSL SHOTGUNNING PROGRAM
To achieve the Expert rating in the NRA Trap Shooting program, a youngster must shoot two, 25 shot rounds with at least 11 hits, 4 rounds with at least 13 hits per round, 6 rounds of hitting at least 15 birds per round, 6 rounds of hitting at least 17 birds per round and 10 rounds of hitting at least 19 birds per round. This is a total of breaking 456 out of a possible 700 birds. A lot of shooting, but a goal well worth pursuing.

Kaity T. is the third of our Shotgun Program youngsters to earn the rating of Expert in the Winchester/NRA Shotgunning Program in Trap Shooting. Katie receiver her Expert certificate from her father, Gary T. who is an NRA Certified Instructor in Rifle, Muzzle Loading Rifle, Shotgun and Pistol. The presentation was made at the SCCYSL Fun Shoot on June 24, 2013. Katie will also receive her Expert rocker patch and lapel pin as well as a $100 US Savings bond. Katie is an all around shooter and is nearing the Expert
rating in Small Bore Rifle as well.

Heidi B. is the first SCCYSL youngster to earn the Expert ranking in the Winchester/NRA Shotgunning Program in Trap Shooting. Heidi is shown receiving her Expert certificate from her proud parents, Dave and Sue who are both NRA certified Shotgun Instructors as well as USAS Level 1 Shotgun Coaches. Heidi will receive an Expert certificate, the Expert rocker in shotgunning, an Expert lapel pin and a $100 US Savings Bond. Congratulations to Heidi. Heidi received her certificate on February 15, 2013.
